Data Protection and Health and Safety in the workplace are arguably two of the most important pieces of legislation that a company or individual should know. This course discusses both these areas in detail so that you will be confident that your company or organisation are complying with regulations.

Data protection is essentially the safeguarding of information and data, protecting those who share their data from being compromised, lost or corrupted. More data is being collected than ever before by businesses, whether it is for the purpose of a specific service or marketing. This enormous amount of data being stored must be kept confidential and used only for specific purposes, making data protection increasingly important.

Health and safety is the act of preventing injury, harm or ill health from anybody including employees, workplace visitors, freelancers, contractors, or any other individuals.

By taking this course you will be making sure that your workplace is adhering to GDPR and health and safety legislation and making sure that you understand how to create a safe working environment for those around you.

We will look at data protection and GDPR
Introduction to Data Protection and GDPR
This module focuses primarily on the retrieval, processing and storage or data, outlining required legal processes. It also explores the differences between legitimate, vital and public interests.
Short task to take a look at what you may already do regarding GDPR and what needs to change.
This module explains the rights of people in the case of automated data collection, explaining restrictions to personal data as well as how an individual is able to object to their data being processed by an organisation.
This module explains the responsibility of a data controller, ensuring that data is kept secure and processed legally. It will also explore the roles of the data controller, data protection officer and data processor.
This task will enable you to do a brief workplace audit in regards to GDPR and Data Protection and to see if there is anything your organisation needs to do now.
Course Summary for Part A
Welcome onto Part B of the course where we will take a deep dive into Health and Safety in the Workplace.
This module will explain the meaning of health and safety, as well as the reasoning behind implementing health and safety regulations. Here we will also look at Health and Safety legislation.
This module will explore various hazardous substances, outlining the risks they bring. Included in this will be asbestos awareness and COSHH, as well as electricity and fire precautions and the protective equipment and maintenance that works to protect from hazardous substances.
This module will explore the difference between hazards and risks, outlining various hazards and the ways in which these can be controlled. It will then look at welfare within the workplace.
This module will look at various equipment that can be used in workplaces, as well as the risks these can bring.
This video will enable you to have a think about what equipment you use in your workplace or organisation and what hazards you feel they may have.
In this module we will look into fire and electricity as Hazardous risks. We will look into who is at risk in a work environment and also the precautions that should be taken. We will also look into the legalities surrounding this.
In this module, the definition of a risk assessment will be explained, as well as legal requirements. The stages of a suitable and sufficient risk assessment will be explained, as well as looking at precautions and minimising risks.
This module will explore the risks of noise and sound and the precautions that can prevent harm as a result of these.
This module will look at the risks of working at height and the legalities around this. We will also look at training requirements in this area.
This module will cover the risks associated when working with vibration and methods of monitoring vibration levels. We will also look at training requirements in this area.
The study of people’s efficiency in their working environment is called 'Ergonomics'. In this module, we will explore ergonomics and the hazards related to this.
In this section you will be able to complete a task which is a workplace audit into Health and Safety.
